It’s About Balance
The YMCA Union Park Camp was the third stop on the Iowa Mixify™ Tour that encourages teens and families to “Balance What You Eat, Drink & Do!” Mixify™ is a national multi-year consumer engagement program to reach teens on their own terms. The initiative leverages social media and digital and TV advertising with online tips and tools to promote teen well-being in ways that fit easily into their day-to-day lives.
BALANCE WHAT YOU EAT, DRINK & DO
The Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA provided outdoor activities for teens at the event, including zip lining, archery, rock climbing and backyard games. Free food and recipes were also offered, courtesy of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association. The event was free and open to teens and their parents.
The Mixify™ Tour is part of the Balance Calories Iowa Initiative, a partnership between the Iowa Beverage Association, the Iowa Grocery Industry Association and the Iowa Games.
Balance Calories Iowa supports the national agreement reached between the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the Coca-Cola Company, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, PepsiCo and the American Beverage Association in September, 2014. In this landmark agreement, major beverage companies committed to decreasing beverage calories in the American diet by 20% per person nationally by 2025.
The Balance Calories Iowa Initiative and Mixify™ Iowa Tour launched in June. The “Balance What You Eat, Drink & Do” program supports Governor Terry Branstad’s and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds’ goal to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation.
