DAY CAMPS

With a commitment to nurturing the potential of a child, our Y Day Camp experience focuses on:

Youth Development   |   Achievement   |   Relationships   |   Belonging

The Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA Union Park Day Camp has a strong emphasis on enjoying nature, and being active in the outdoors. Camp helps each child develop environmental awareness while learning camping skills, and providing enjoyable activities that promote individual growth in areas of self-esteem, responsibility, communication, independence, leadership, and our Christian values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

CAMP INFORMATION & REGISTRATION

GROUP ACTIVITIES

Depending on age and level, group activities may include: Archery | Arts & Crafts | Black Hole | Hiking | Creek Stomping | Games | Songs | Horseback Riding (weather permitting) | Low Ropes Course | Swimming | Zipline | GaGa Ball.

EXTENDED CARE HOURS AT CAMP

Because the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA has transitioned to a fully state-licensed model for childcare, we have no licensed facilities at camp. As a result, there is no extended care offered at camp.

PARENTS DAY AT CAMP

Parents are welcome to come early on the last day of camp (Friday) and take a self-guided tour of the campgrounds and recreation areas. You’ll be able to see the archery range, the rock climbing areas, the black hole, and the ziplines — the areas you have been hearing about all week. The hike into the valley to see these areas can be a bit rigorous, so be prepared and wear comfortable footwear.

Horse camp parents are invited to view a demonstration of skills learned, beginning at 4:00PM on Friday. Come to the barn area and bring a lawn chair or two. The demonstration will last about 45-60 minutes. Following the demonstration, feel free to take a self-guided tour of the camp recreation areas.

DEPOSIT

Please enclose a $75 non-refundable deposit when registering. This deposit will be applied to your camp fee. You will be responsible for paying the remainder of the balance at least one week prior to the beginning of your camp session. If you do not pay your balance in full at that time, or contact the Camp Director regarding your camper’s non-attendance at camp, you will forfeit your deposit.

CREDITS/TRANSFERS/REFUNDS

Credits will be granted on a case-by-case basis. Illness-related absences require a doctor’s note to be considered for a credit. Contact the Camp Director for more information. Refunds are given if the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA cancels the program.

MEMBERSHIPS

Consider a Y youth membership so your child can enjoy a whole year of activities at the member rate. Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA youth memberships are available for one-year, 6 months, or for a 4 month period for campers of all ages. Camper memberships must be valid through the end of the session in order to receive the membership rate for summer camp.

Financial assistance is available through generous donations from local community groups and individuals. Applications are available at the front desk of the Y facility. Applications must be completed and returned with a copy of your last year’s tax return or other verification of income to the Membership Director. Remember to apply early.
