WEE: TAKE MY HAND
I grew up in a village in Singapore. My mother would send me to the market frequently to buy grocery or other necessities for the day.
I would walk past one house where a boy about my age would be chained to the porch. He had a disability and he could not talk. I was told the chaining was to prevent him from wandering away and getting lost. He would always make grunting sounds and extend his hand to me whenever I passed by.
Sadly, I never took his hand. This image is seared in my mind.

(Dubuque, September 14, 2018)– Sharon Covey, the president and CEO of the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA, has resigned, effective September 13. She had been the president and CEO since 2013.

Glimmer of Hope Fashion Show – Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA
[DUBUQUE, IA, September 18, 2015] The Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA’s 10th Annual Glimmer of Hope Fashion Show presented by Verizon will take place on Friday, October 2, 2015, at the Mystique Casino in the Cabaret Room. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with appetizers and a cash bar. The fashion show and program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
