There is something for everyone in our summer school-age program including swimming, field trips, arts & crafts, active games, and character development, all while making friends, memories and lots of laughs. That is what the cool school summer program is all about. 

 

COOL SCHOOL

June 8 – August 21 | 1-Week Sessions Available

Program Hours:
Monday – Friday 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Includes breakfast, lunch, & afternoon snack.

Caring for children who have completed Kindergarten through Grade 5.

$129 Member/Week*
$159 Non-Member/Week
Registration Fee: $25 (One time fee)
*Must have a 1 or 2 adult household membership for member rate.

COOL SCHOOL INFORMATION & REGISTRATION  

FIELD TRIPS
Cool School participants will be taking planned field trips throughout the summer. We will provide a calendar in advance that will let you know which days they will be gone. On these days there will be no cool school staff in the building due to the participant to staff ratio in the program. Please plan to drop off and pick up around this schedule.

MEMBERSHIPS
Consider a Y family membership so your child can enjoy a whole year of activities at the member rate. Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA family memberships are available on a monthly draft or annual payment plan.
The Dubuque Y now offers income-based pricing which allows individuals and families to provide documentation of income and receive an adjusted rate that fits them for the membership type they are looking for. FAQ'S

What activities do they do? Table games, arts and crafts, reading, games in the gym, swimming, outside activities, and educational activities with guest instructors.

Do I need a Family Membership to receive the member rate? Yes, please see above for more information.

Is there a registration fee? Yes, there is a $25 one time fee.

What is the earliest I can drop my child off? 6:30 AM at the Dubuque Y.

Where is Drop off and Pick up? Drop off and pick up are at the Dubuque Y located at 35N Booth Street. Children will be assigned “homerooms” and check-in and out will be from those rooms.

What is the latest I can pick up my child? 6:00 PM at the Dubuque Y.

Can I pick up my child up early or drop my child off late? Yes, unless we are on a field trip. Field trip schedules will be given to parents in advance. Children may not be dropped off at a trip location.

Can I bring my own child’s lunch? Yes, make sure nothing in the lunch needs to be refrigerated and there are no items that contain peanuts or tree nuts.

What items should I pack? Change of clothes, swimsuit, towel, hat, water bottle, optional snack, Sun Screen.

Where is Cool School located? 35 N Booth Street Dubuque, Iowa

What do the themes mean? Themes will be used for crafts and various actives during the week each week is pretty similar as far as main activities.

What if it is very hot outside? We will limit the time in the sun if the air temperature is over 90 degrees with the humidity over 60 % we will not go outside.
