GLIMMER OF HOPE
Join us in celebrating VOICES OF GLIMMER, our 14th annual Glimmer of Hope event and fashion show, held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at Hotel Julien. All funds raised go directly to supporting the Dubuque Y’s – Victim Services Shelter.
This event will include a cocktail hour from 5:30P-6:30P with an opportunity to view live auction items and shop area stores participating in the fashion show. A plated dinner and main program will begin at 6:45pm. Our program will feature a segment for a short film project titled: Aturdir, written and directed by Ruth Mataya Garcia, a survivor of domestic violence, and produced by Dreamcatcher Productions. Following the film, Dubuque’s finest First Responders, Dispatchers, Advocates, and Survivors will take the stage and model fashions from local stores; Fig Leaf, Namaste, Rhomberg’s and jewelry from Doland Jewelers.
There will many opportunities to support our Victim Services Shelter throughout the night, from a 50/50 raffle, Fund A Mission, several amazing LIVE AUCTION items, and our signature Glimmer piece, 14 Karat White Gold Martini Set Diamond Studs. Last but certainly not least, the stores involved in the fashion show will be donating 10% of their sales from the evening back to the Victim Services Shelter!
Glimmer of Hope is a night full of emotions, stories of overcoming adversity and thankfulness as we celebrate those who have survived domestic violence. It is a night to empower and to advocate for all survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking, especially those seeking shelter services, by raising awareness of the our work being done in our shelter. Last year alone, over 4,000 nights of safety were provided to women and children in our community.
We thank you for your continued support and generosity!
“I am survivor of sex trafficking. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help I received from the shelter. The advocates helped me gain confidence and independence. I am happy to be on my own and in a life free of violence.”
