About The Y

The Dubuque Community Y proudly serves the Tri-States as one of the longest-established organizations in Dubuque, Iowa. Founded in 1866, above a store on Main Street, the Dubuque Y transitioned through various services and facilities. The Y continues to utilize Christian principles to create opportunities for growth, leadership, and empowerment for women, men, and youth by building a healthy spirit, mind, and body, emphasizing caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

The YMCA is a cause-driven organization with 21 million members nationally, focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. At the core of the Y is the belief that positive, lasting personal and social change can only come about when communities work together to invest in children, health, and neighborhoods.

Today, Y’s engages more than 10,000 community neighborhoods across the U.S. As the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to helping people and communities, the Ys’ contributions are both far-reaching and intimate—from influencing the nation’s culture during times of profound social change to the individual support provided to people in need.

The Dubuque Community Y is community-centered, and our goal is to become a welcoming gathering point for our community and to partner whenever possible with other nonprofit groups and organizations. Together, we make it possible so you can be great here.

Who We Serve: Through membership and programs, the Dubuque Community Y serves over 15,000 individuals annually (about 1 in 6 people in the City of Dubuque). Our mission ensures that no child, family, or adult is denied our services for an inability to pay.
